You are better at caring for the environment than you probably think!

Most environment sites or organisations beat you up for being a consumer whilst offering precious few practical ways to be effective.

In most cases 1 kilowatt of electrical energy you use releases 1 kilogram of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Everything you own was made using energy, lots of it. Therefore each item has a huge greenhouse gas “debt”. So, each of us carry a pretty big debt on our shoulders when you consider that. Depressing isn’t it?

But, if you make sure that everything you own is RE-USED once you have finished with it, then you are saving a huge amount of energy. In other words, sell or give away your unwanted items and you are now in greenhouse CREDIT because you prevented a new one from being made. Clothing, toys, tools, furniture, cars, houses… everything you sell or pass on saves gasses from being released. Now when you consider how much stuff you have given away or sold in your life you start to realise that you are a better Environment Citizen than you thought.

Now consider that if you buy a used car or house or clothing and furniture you are not only saving money, but they are in fact Greenhouse Gas debt free!

Environment & Cartridges

By selling us cartridges you are making sure that they will be Re-Used, NOT Recycled. Recycling means transforming an item into another item. That transformation requires the use of energy, lots of it, and as we just outlined that means more greenhouse gasses being released. That transformation is done by machines not humans and that means little employment. It is also usually done offshore so it also means a national balance of payments issue.

Re-Using means exactly that, using it again. Nearly all the components in a cartridge can be Re-Used with a minimum amount of energy being used. It’s also labour intensive and done here in Australia.

Original manufacturers do not want you to Re-Use their cartridges, they want you to buy a new cartridge from them, so they promote recycling. They get perfectly good cartridges and crush and melt them into some other item, thereby creating a huge Greenhouse debt.

Look at their own wording, you will not see the word Re-Use often, only Recycle…
